Large Lord Buddha Wooden Statue Seated on A Floral Throne. Size 48*76 cm.
Buddha is in the bhumisparsha mudra or earth touching hand position with his right hand reaching down towards the earth goddess, Sthavara, to bear witness to his attaining enlightenment. The right hand reaching down towards the earth is complemented by the left hand-which is held flat in the lap in the dhyana mudra of meditation, symbolises the union of method and wisdom, samsara and nirvana, and also the realisations of the conventional and ultimate truths.
The Buddha has a rich, antique finish.
